0 true zero or a value rounded to zero r revised 1. Revisions to some provincial data (Quebec, 1991 through 2005, and British Columbia, 2005) have resulted in revisions to estimates at the Canada level. 2. Starting in 2003, a change occurred in the reporting of Newfoundland's information concerning newly registered apprentices and cancellations and suspensions. 3. Changes in Prince Edward Island's information system, starting with the reporting of 2005, may affect historical comparisons. At the end of 2006, the province made some adjustments and revisions to its database that account for the change in the carry-over of registered apprentices at the beginning of 2007. In 2007, an increase in new registrations was, to some extent, related to a demand for skilled workers outside of the province. In 2008, technical issues with the information system and reporting of data following the redesign of the Registered Appenticeship Information System survey caused a number of apprentices not to be reported. 4. In 2008, Quebec's information began reflecting the inclusion of the non-construction, un-regulated voluntary trades and the exclusion of the automotive-related trades. 5. A clean-up of inactive clients on the Ontario database at the end of 2006 may have caused differences in the carry-over totals of active apprentices from 2006 to 2007. 6. For 2008, Alberta incorrectly included the "Industrial warehousing" trade with the "Partsperson" and "Partsperson (material)" trades, and also excluded the "Construction craft worker" trade." 7. Nunavut was created on April 1, 1999. Prior to 2001, data for Nunavut were included with information from the Northwest Territories. This creates a break in series for the Northwest Territories after 2000. Notes: In 2008, the Registered Apprenticeship Information System (RAIS) underwent a major survey redesign. To ensure the confidentiality of responses, all counts are randomly rounded to a multiple of 3. Since the total and subtotals are independently rounded, the total values may not match the sum of the individual values. For a brief description of this indicator, including the methodology, please see the Handbook for the Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program.
