* indicates a coefficient of variation (CV) between 16.6% and 25%. ** indicates a coefficient of variation (CV) greater than 25% and less than or equal to 33.3%. 1. The rate of out (in) migration before enrolling is defined as the number of graduates who left (entered) the jurisdiction to pursue studies, as a percentage of the number of graduates that had resided in that jurisdiction one year prior to enrolment. Used as a measure of "student mobility". 2. The rate of out (in) migration after graduation is defined as the number of graduates who left (entered) the jurisdiction two years after graduation, as a percentage of the number of graduates of the jurisdiction. Used as a measure of "graduate mobility". 3. The net overall migration rate is defined as the difference between the number of graduates residing in the jurisdiction two years after graduation and the number that had resided there one year before enrolment, as a percentage of the number of graduates that had resided in the jurisdiction one year before enrolment. 4. College includes a 2005 level of certification reported as: Community college or CEGEP certificate or diploma; Technical institute diploma or certificate; or Hospital school of nursing or school of radiology certificate or diploma. College excludes: Registered apprenticeship; Trade/vocational certificate or diploma; graduates from private post-secondary institutions. 5. As the 2007 survey of 2005 graduates includes for the first time graduates of an "Attestation of College Studies" in Quebec, comparability of data with previous cycles for college graduates is affected, especially at the provincial level for Quebec. 6. Data required to build the frame of 2005 graduates could not be obtained from a few institutions and therefore, graduates from those institutions were not included on the frame. Consequently, they could not be selected nor represented in any tabulation. It is estimated that approximately 10,000 college graduates in Ontario and 5,000 college graduates in Alberta are missing from the survey population. No adjustment was made at the weighting stage to compensate for this under-coverage. 7. University includes a 2005 level of certification reported as: University diploma or certificate below bachelor level; Bachelor's degree or first professional degree; University diploma or certificate above bachelor level but below master level; Master's degree; or Doctorate. 8. There are no universities in the territories. Notes: Figures may not add up to totals because of rounding. Graduates who were resident outside Canada one year before enrolment or two years after graduation are excluded. Source: Statistics Canada, National Graduates Survey, 2007 (Class of 2005). |
