2. Fiscal year ending March 31 for federal, provincial/territorial governments and calendar year for local governments. For example, 2003/2004 data refer to federal and provincial/territorial government expenditure for the period between April 1, 2003 and March 31, 2004 and local government expenditure for the period between January 1 and December 31, 2003.
3. Constant dollar conversion performed using Consumer Price Index (CPI) CANSIM table 326-0002 by Culture, Tourism and the Centre for Education Statistics Division, Statistics Canada.
4. Because of changes in methodology, data from 1989/1990 through 1997/1998 are not directly comparable with data after that period for the categories of Health, Social Services.
5. Social assistance; Workers' Compensation benefits; employee pension plan benefits and changes in equity; veterans' benefits; motor vehicle accident compensation; and other social services.
6. General government services; protection of persons and property; transportation and communication; resource conservation and industrial development; environment; recreation and culture; labour, employment and immigration; housing; foreign affairs and international assistance; regional planning and development; research establishments; general purpose transfers to other government subsectors; debt charges; and other expenditures.
Note:
Data in this table cannot be directly compared with other tables in the B2 series because of differences in methodology.
