A limitation of cohort analysis is the assumption that the composition of the group being followed does not change over time. Sources of potential compositional changes include immigration (for the total Canadian population), and the increased tendency for people to identify as Aboriginal (for the First Nations population), since new members can be added to a cohort from one data year to the next. This analysis should thus be interpreted with these limitations in mind.
