In 1998, 1999, and every second year thereafter starting with 2001, statistics for Canada include the territories. For the other years, Canada-level statistics include the 10 provinces only.

In 1997, survey coverage in the Yukon Territory corresponded to 78% of the population.

In 1997, survey coverage in the Northwest Territories corresponded to 70% of the population.

The 1997 estimates for the Northwest Territories include Nunavut.

Data for the territories were collected in 1997, 1998, 1999, and every second year starting with 2001.
