There were 420,171 aircraft take-offs and landings at the 93 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations in November 2013 compared with 438,610 movements in November 2012. Year-over-year decreases were reported by 59 airports. Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International, Ontario (33,499 movements) and Vancouver International, British Columbia (22,218 movements) were the most active sites in November 2013.

Itinerant movements (flights from one airport to another) decreased 2.5% (-7,614 movements) in November 2013 from the same month the previous year. These airports reported 295,534 movements compared with 303,148 movements in November 2012. Year-over-year variations ranged from an increase of 1,339 movements (+11.6%) at Edmonton International, Alberta to a drop of 1,621 movements (-54.3%) at Edmonton City Centre, Alberta. Fifty-four airports reported year-over-year decreases in the number of itinerant aircraft movements in November 2013.

In November 2013, there were 124,637 local movements (flights that remain in the vicinity of the airport) recorded. This represents a decrease of 8.0% (-10,825 movements) compared with the previous year. Abbotsford, British Columbia (7,304 movements) and Victoria International, British Columbia (6,698 movements) recorded the largest number of local movements.

Itinerant movements: domestic, transborder and international

There were 246,263 domestic itinerant movements reported by 93 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations in November 2013, down 3.0% (-7,498 movements) from November 2012. Year-over-year variations ranged from an increase of 1,230 movements (+12.5%) at Edmonton International, Alberta to a drop of 1,604 movements (-54.1%) at Edmonton City Centre, Alberta. Fifty-four airports reported year-over-year decreases in the number of domestic movements in November 2013.

Seventy-nine airports recorded 39,270 transborder itinerant movements (between Canada and the United States) in November 2013, decreasing from 39,897 movements the same month in 2012. Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International, Ontario (14,761 movements) reported the greatest number of transborder itinerant movements.

In November 2013, thirty-six airports reported 10,001 other international itinerant movements, up 5.4% from November 2012. Toronto/Lester B. Pearson International, Ontario, recorded 4,626 other international itinerant movements.
