There were 407,036 aircraft take-offs and landings at the 93 Canadian airports with NAV CANADA air traffic control towers and flight service stations in February 2012 compared with 358,656 movements in February 2011. The growth in aircraft movements can be partly attributed to the extra day for the leap year.

Itinerant movements (flights from one airport to another) increased 10.4% (+27,604 movements) in February 2012 from the same month the previous year. These airports reported 292,230 movements compared with 264,626 movements in February 2011.

In February 2012, there were 114,806 local movements (flights that remain in the vicinity of the airport) recorded. This represents an increase of 22.1% (+20,776 movements) compared with the previous year.
