The different series of air fare indexes were calculated, from 1995 to 2005, using the chain Laspeyres index method linked at the annual level, with annually updated weights. The index number 100 was assigned to the year 2002 and the base year is always the previous year.

Estimates are subject to periodic revisions to reflect carrier updates and further refinement of the fare code assignment system.
