Highlights

April 2007

  1. Monthly production of primary steel and pig iron fell 3.9% in April 2007 to 1,375,464 metric tonnes.
  2. In the same month, the total disposition of shipments of rolled steel products dropped 9.6% to 1,261,974 metric tonnes. However, monthly disposition of these products was up 4.8% compared with April 2006.
  3. Between March 2007 and April 2007, production of steel pipe and tubing decreased 9.1% to 225,080 metric tonnes.
  4. Total shipments of steel wire and specified wire products edged down 1.3% to 49,280 metric tonnes in April 2007.
