Stocks of Frozen and Chilled Meats (23-009-X)

Alternative Livestock on Canadian Farms (23-502-X)

This publication highlights twelve species of livestock found on Canadian farms that are not reported as part of the Livestock and Animal Products Section's ongoing program.  Using information from the six Censuses of Agriculture from 1981 to 2006, it gives the number of animals reported, the number of farms they are reported on, the average number per farm and the percentage change from one census period to the next, by province.

Canada Food Stats

Canada Food Stats is an easy-to-use application that is available on a CD-ROM or as a database that can be downloaded directly to your desktop. The product provides access to a broad spectrum of food statistics and indicators. It contains information on food available for consumption and food prices, nutrition, supply and demand, as well as data on the food industry, processing, employment, productivity, trade and much more. The product provides users with easy access to large volumes of data, access to pre-defined tables or the ability to query the database and create unique tabulations.

This product, developed by Statistics Canada's Agriculture Division in co-operation with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, contains 73 formatted tables with almost 50 years of data in some cases, along with topical analyses. There are also a number of data sets available for the provinces, along with selected quarterly and monthly statistics. It is an invaluable research tool for nutritionists, food industry analysts, market researchers, or consumers who are just looking for reliable data on food.

This publication contains 15 years of annual supply, disposition, and per capita disappearance data for the following food groups: cereals, sugars and syrups, pulses and nuts, beverages, dairy products and by-products, poultry, eggs and meats. The data tables and related analytical information for all commodities from both Part I and II are included in both publications. The last issue contains data from 1988 to 2002. This publication has been replaced by Food Statistics (21-020-X).
