Recirculation rate = Amount of recirculated water as a percent of intake. The same water can leave a sub-system and re-enter it or is used in another sub-system many times, resulting in a recirculation rate > 100%.
Gross water use = Intake + Recirculation.
Consumption = Intake - Discharge.
Consumption rate = Consumption as a percentage of Intake.
For both 2007 and 2009, data for the Great Lakes drainage region, the Ottawa drainage region and the St. Lawrence drainage region were combined under the Great Lakes drainage region. For all other years they appear separately.
