Description of Map 2.1
The title of this map is Estimated tree canopy for medium and large urban population centres, by reconciliation unit. This map shows the percentage of urban tree canopy cover for 85 medium and large urban population centres, by reconciliation area.
A table listing the reconciliation unit identifying numbers and names is located on the top left of the map. The numbers are used to identify these areas on the map. CMAs are identified for illustrative purposes on the large map and small inset map zoomed into Southern Ontario.
On this map, light green represents area in which urban tree cover is less than 16%, light medium green represents area with 16% to less than 26% urban tree cover, medium green represents 26% to less than 33% urban tree cover, dark medium green represents 33% to less than 44% urban tree cover and dark green represents areas which have greater than or equal to 44% urban tree cover. Black dots and the CMA name are used to mark where the CMAs are located. White is used for areas where there is no data, and areas within the United States are coloured pale grey.
