Map 1

Map 1 shows the amount of nitrogen produced by livestock through manure, in kilograms per hectare, by sub-sub-drainage area (SSDAs) in Canada. Areas with the highest intensity of nitrogen production in 2006, with over 23 kg of nitrogen produced per hectare, were found in central and southern Alberta, south-western Ontario, and south-eastern Quebec. There were smaller clusters of SSDAs with high nitrogen production in southern Manitoba and southwest British Columbia.
