Business expectations over the next three months

  • 77.8% expect to keep the same number of employees
  • 50.5% expect operating expenses to increase
  • 50.3% expect the rising cost of inputs to be an obstacle
  • 49.6% expect profitability to remain relatively unchanged
  • 35.7% expect to raise the prices of goods and services
  • 26.2% expect the demand for products and services to increase

Expected labour-related obstacles over the next three months

  • 38.5% expect recruiting skilled employees to be an obstacle
  • 37.0% expect labour force shortage to be an obstacle
  • 30.4% expect retaining skilled employees to be an obstacle

Business outlook over the next 12 months

  • 49.3% have a somewhat optimistic outlook
  • 21.1% have a very optimistic outlook
  • 13.2% have a somewhat pessimistic outlook
  • 12.9% are uncertain of their outlook
  • 3.5% have a very pessimistic outlook

Management and non-management positions

Distribution of men and women, by type of position held

  • 36.8% of employees in senior management positions were women and 63.2% were men
  • 46.3% of employees in all other management positions were women and 53.7% were men
  • 43.8% of employees in all other positions were women and 56.2% were men

Supply chain

Of businesses that expect supply chain challenges over the next three months…

  • 71.9% reported that supply chain challenges have worsened over the last three months
  • 64.5% reported searching for alternate supply sources to address their supply chain challenges
  • 35.8% reported that they plan to partner with new suppliers over the next 12 months
  • 43.4% reported that supply chain challenges are expected to remain about the same over the next three months
