Completing apprenticeship training in Canada
Most apprentices take longer than the usual program duration to earn their certificate. Among those who registered for apprenticeship training between 2008 and 2014, only 16% had earned their certificate by the end of the program duration.

Working conditions and wages played an important role in the success of apprentices.
Apprentices who were working in a field closely related to their trade were more likely to earn their certificate than those who were not (38% vs. 32%).
Apprentices who earned their certificateNote 1 had the highest employment incomes throughout their training.
