As of 2018, there were 5,846 active non-financial co-operatives in Canada, an increase of 92 from 2017.

In 2018, active non-financial co-operatives provided employment to 103,470 people, and 99.1% of co-operatives with employees were small or medium enterprises (1 to 499 employees). These co-operatives provided $2.4 billion in salaries and wages.
