Annual data are averages of the monthly estimates except for benefit weeks and claims received, where the sums are used. Another estimate of EI coverage, derived from annual tax returns filed with Revenue Canada, is also available on request.

Includes all strikes and lockouts, legal or illegal, lasting one-half day or more and amounting to 10 or more person-days. Time lost by workers indirectly affected, such as those laid off because of a stoppage by other employees, is not included.

Monthly data, when presented in this table, are unadjusted for seasonality, except regular beneficiaries and initial and renewal claims received.
