Chart 1 The percentage of people who own their homes increases with age at departure from the parental home until about age 25
This chart shows that the percentage of persons who own their own homes increases with age at departure from the parental home, but only until about age 25. About 61% of younger adults who left the parental home between ages 16 to 17 were homeowners, a proportion that rises to 74% for those who left between 24 and 25 years old. This percentage drops to about 61% for those who left home between ages 28 to 30.
