Chart 4 Young adults left home at a younger age in 1971 than in 2001
This is a line chart with the percent who have the parental left home shown along the vertical axis and single-years-of-age along the horizontal axis from age 18 to age 34. Four lines are shown: 1971 Men, 2001 Men, 1971 Women and 2001 Women. At all ages and for both men and women, young adults are less likely to have left home in 2001 than in 1971. In both 1971 and 2001, women are more likely to have left home than men at the same age.
