    This study uses a new longitudinal dataset that combines information from the Postsecondary Information System (PSIS) with personal income tax data to examine the labour market outcomes of graduates from universities in the Maritime provinces (Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick). In this pilot study, the outcomes of six cohorts of young people who graduated from a university in the Maritime provinces between 2006 and 2011 are examined, including 37,425 undergraduate degree holders (those with a bachelor’s degree) and 6,740 graduate degree holders (those with a master’s degree or a doctorate).

    During the last decade, the Canadian property and casualty insurance industry underwent considerable consolidation, which has resulted in a smaller number of non-government companies serving a larger share of the industry's market. After describing the industry's role, characteristics, financial performance, and importance to the overall economy, this article examines motivations for and evidence of consolidation in the property and casualty insurance industry between 1988 and early 2001.

    Findings include moderate financial growth overall despite a steady decrease in the number of licensed companies in the industry. The overall decrease in the number of companies is due more to market exits than mergers or amalgamations. Nevertheless, ownership changes have also increased the concentration of market share under the largest groups of affiliated insurance companies.

The Sort by feature provides three options:

  • By date – sorts results by product release date starting with the most recent.
  • By relevance is only needed or beneficial when you use the search box and submit a search query. Results are ordered by a combination of where the search term appears in the content, e.g., if it appears in the title, it likely means the product is more relevant to your search; how up to date or new the content in the product is; how popular the product is; and other factors.
  • By title – sorts results alphabetically.
