This series presents a summary of characteristics about the Aboriginal population living in these areas. Findings are based on the 2011 National Household Survey, the 2012 Canadian Community Health Survey, and the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Survey.

The 2006 Aboriginal Peoples Survey (APS) provides data on the social and economic conditions of First Nations people living off reserve, Métis and Inuit. Its specific purpose was to identify the needs of Aboriginal people focusing on issues such as health, language, employment, income, schooling, housing, and mobility. The survey was designed and implemented in partnership with national Aboriginal organizations.

These tables provide data at the provincial/regional level for the Métis identity population (aged 15 and older) for some of the major themes covered in the analytical article, including: self rated health status; percentage diagnosed with arthritis/rheumatism, high blood pressure, stomach problems or intestinal ulcers, asthma and diabetes; having a regular family doctor; not receiving health care when needed and; reasons for not completing elementary or secondary school. For Métis children aged 6 to 14, tables include: self-rated health status; frequency of participation in sports and; contact with a pediatrician, general practitioner or family physician in the past 12 months.

These tables provide data at the national level, for each of the four Inuit regions (Nunatsiavut, Nunavik, Nunavut and the Inuvialuit region), along with data for Inuit outside these regions for major themes covered in the analytical article. Data for the Inuit identity population aged 15 and over are provided for: Participation in harvesting activities; diagnosed with arthritis/rheumatism, high blood pressure, asthma, stomach problems or intestinal ulcers, heart problems, tuberculosis and diabetes; smoking status; self-rated health status and; reasons for not completing elementary or secondary school. For Inuit children aged 6 to 14, tables include: contact with a pediatrician, general practitioner or family physician in past 12 months; contact with another medical specialist and; food insecurity.

The 2001 Aboriginal Peoples Survey (APS) is a post-censal survey of adults and children who reported Aboriginal ancestry, Aboriginal identity, registered Indian status and/or Band membership on the 2001 Census. Approximately 76,000 adults and 41,000 children living in private households in the provinces and territories were selected to participate in the survey. The data were collected between September 2001 and January 2002.
These tables contain data on health, education, residential schools and language for the Aboriginal identity population (aged 15 and older) living off-reserve for Canada and the provinces and territories. Data for specific Aboriginal groups (North American Indian, Métis and Inuit) are also included for some variables.

The Aboriginal Peoples Survey (APS) is a national survey on the social and economic conditions of Aboriginal Peoples (First Nations people living off reserve, Métis and Inuit) aged 6 years and over. The 2012 APS represents the fourth cycle of the survey and focuses on issues of education, employment and health.
A comparatively young and growing population, Métis represent an emerging force within the Canadian labour market. Comparisons within the Labour Force Survey reveal that Métis have labour market characteristics that closely resemble those of the total population in Canada. This study profiles the labour market characteristics of Métis aged 15 years and over using the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Survey. Employment, unemployment and additional factors such as occupation, job tenure and job permanence were considered.

The results are for all Inuit in Canada, presented by the total population, inside and outside Inuit Nunangat and the four Inuit regions.
