    Using data for the population aged 15 and older from the 2015 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS), this study presents prevalence estimates of sexual minority populations and disparities in complete mental health between gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals, and their heterosexual counterparts. Complete mental health is defined as being in flourishing mental health in combination with the absence of a mood or anxiety disorder diagnosis and absence of suicide ideation in the previous 12 months.

    Statistics Canada developed a new Physical Activity for Youth Questionnaire (PAYQ) to address the limitations of previous self-reporting and objective measurement. PAYQ was subsequently implemented in both the Canadian Health Measures Survey (2014-2015) and the Canadian Community Health Survey (2015-2016). Using those surveys, this study compares accelerometer-measured and self-reported physical activity from the new PAYQ among Canadian youth.

    An increasing number of consumer laser products are available to Canadians, many being purchased from online retailers. Of particular concern are high-powered, handheld laser devices. This study was conducted to assess the impact of this influx of laser products on the number of laser-associated injuries in Canada. Data are from the rapid response component of the 2014 Canadian Community Health Survey which collected data from 19,765 Canadians on the prevalence of laser product exposure and usage, the type of laser product used, and the incidence of eye or skin injuries.
