Facilities are classified into one of the following eighteen types: trails, sports fields, arenas, athletic parks, beaches, casinos, community centres, gyms, marinas, parks, playgrounds, pools, race tracks, rinks, skate parks, splash pads, stadiums, and miscellaneous. The listing contains the names, addresses, and geo coordinates of facilities, as well as the facility type as assigned in the data source. The ODRSF is based on data from authoritative sources that include among them provincial, territorial and municipal governments. The ODRSF is released as open data under the Open Government License - Canada and provided as a zipped comma-separated values (.csv) file.

    In this article, we describe, first the changes that have occurred in the family structure. An overview of the demographic changes that have marked the period from 1980 to 1998, will shed some light on the factors that seem to influence the travel market at the start of the millenium. We then paint a picture of travel by Canadian families in 1998 compared to that of adults travelling alone. In this latter section, we present some of the strategies the tourst industry uses to adapt to these new markets.
