Data from post-deployment screening were used to examine the utility of the 8-item Combat Experience Scale (CES-8) as a potential alternative to the 30-item scale (CES-30) in the contexts of both screening and survey research.

    The primary objective of this study is to describe the general income trends pre- and post-release for veterans released from the regular forces since 1998. It also provides some directions for future work. This study is part of the Life After Service Studies (LASS) research program. LASS is a partnership between Veterans Affairs Canada, the Department of National Defence and Statistics Canada. For this income study, information on veterans was linked to the T1 Family File (income data on tax filers and their family) produced by Statistics Canada.

    Description:

    Administered in 2013, the Canadian Forces Mental Health Survey (CFMHS) included the same set of items to assess coping as the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) and the CCHS-Canadian Forces Supplement. This study's objectives were to (1) provide a descriptive analysis of the extent to which members of the CAF Regular Force use these various coping strategies, (2) examine the factorial structure of these items, and (3) assess the resulting coping factors by examining their concurrent validity with theoretically-related indicators and examining differences along key demographic and military characteristics. Ultimately, the study aimed to shed light onto a coping typology that could guide the development of indicators for use in future coping research based on the CFMHS.

    These Indexes are calculated to establish and adjust Post Living Allowances paid to expatriate Canadian military personnel serving under the terms and conditions of the Military Foreign Service Regulations (MFSR's). They are comparative measurements that numerically express the difference between the retail prices of a representative basket of goods and services at a foreign location with prices for a similar basket of goods and services in Ottawa. They reflect the circumstances for personnel who may have access to stores or sources of supply that are not available to the general public. These personnel also may have access to certain goods and services that are free of duties or taxes or may be provided with supplies or allowances by the Department of National Defence or the United Nations. The indexes in this listing are not appropriate for use by non-military personnel.
