The greenhouse gas indicator describes the trend in emissions and the contribution to the trend by energy production, energy consumption and other factors. The socio-economic context provides links to economic performance and social progress. The indicators are intended to assist those in government responsible for developing policy and measuring performance, while also helping individual Canadians who want to know more about the trends in their environment.
