Description: This analytical article provides insight on the impact of discontinuing apprenticeship programs on the labor market outcomes of apprentices in Canada. Using Census 2016 data and the Education and Labour Market Longitudinal Platform (ELMLP), this study examines certified journeypersons, continuers, and discontinuers of apprenticeship programs from 2008 to 2013. Labour market outcomes are compared primarily through the rates of employment in industries related to their trade of study and earnings.

Data for this dashboard is related to the following three surveys: Tuition and Living Accommodation Costs (TLAC), Elementary-Secondary Education Survey (ESES), and the Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS). It also provides an overview of program characteristics based on the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED 2011) and on the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP Canada 2016 cannabis variant) STEM/BHASE groupings. It also details new enrolments (by gender, age group, and student status) for the most common credential programs offered within universities and colleges.

Description: Despite evidence showing that early childhood educators and assistants are at risk of contracting infectious or non-infectious diseases or suffering physical injuries, no Canadian study has investigated the degree to which:

a) early childhood educators and assistants incur work absences due to injury or illness in a given year;

b) such absences are associated with an increased likelihood of leaving the child care sector during that year or subsequent years.

The Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) is used for classifying instructional programs according to field of study. CIP was originally created by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) in the United States. It is a hierarchical classification. The classification provides a detailed description of each instructional program class together with illustrative examples of the types of instructional programs found in that class. Illustrative examples are also provided of closely related programs that are classified elsewhere. In addition, the classification includes an introduction to CIP and an alternative structure for the aggregation of field of study data. CIP has a ten-year revision cycle.
