Estimates of total spending on research and development in the health field in Canada, 1988 to 2003 - ARCHIVED

Expenditures on Health R&D are growing as a percentage of Gross Domestic Expenditures on Research and Development (GERD). Between the years 1996 and 2000, research and development expenditures in the health field represented approximately 18% of total R&D expenditures in Canada. In the last three years, this percentage has grown to 20% (2001), 22% (2002) and 23% (2003 preliminary estimates).
