Changes to acute-care hospitalizations among Indigenous children and youth: Results from the 2006 and 2011 Canadian Census Health and Environment Cohorts
Articles and reports: 82-003-X202300100002Description: In 2015 The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada placed child well-being foremost in their Calls to Action list and within Action 19 called upon the federal government to identify gaps in health between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, including measures of long-term trends. Based on the 2006 and 2011 Canadian Census Health and Environment Cohorts (CanCHECs), this study extends previous work by separately reporting the hospitalization rates for two cohorts of First Nations children and youth living on or off reserve, Métis children and youth, and Inuit children and youth living in Inuit Nunangat (excluding Nunavik), relative to the rates among non-Indigenous children and youth.
