A Note on General Decompositions for Price Indexes
Articles and reports: 62F0014M2021012Description: The additive and multiplicative decompositions for geometric, arithmetic, and Fisher price indexes that make use of the logarithmic mean are generalized by replacing the logarithmic mean with the more general extended mean. The result is a simple decomposition that takes existing results as special cases, and applies to other index numbers like the harmonic, Lloyd-Moulton, and superlative quadratic mean indexes, and their sample counterparts.
