Fabricated Metal Products Industries - ARCHIVED

Journals and periodicals: 41-251-X

Description:

Fabricated metal products industries remain in the middle of an expansion period. The construction sector's vitality, as well as the high North-American demand for industrial products, allow metal products manufacturers to live glorious days. However, where competitiveness is concerned, there could be trouble in paradise. In the last few years, the cost of labour has been on the rise, while the value added for each paid hour has been weakening. Moreover, imports have been increasing at a higher pace than exports in the last two years.

Notes:

Due to a change in publication format introduced with the release of data from the 1985 Census of Manufactures, eight publications (41-208-XPB, 41-216-XPB, 41-221-XPB, 41-225-XPB, 41- 227-XPB, 41-228-XPB, 41-232-XPB, and 42-207-XPB) merged to form catalogue no. 41-251- XPB. This publication was not published for 1991. 41-251-XPB was discontinued in 1998 following the release of data for the 1995 reference year. Some data are also available on a sub-annual basis: see Shipments of solid fuel burning heating products catalogue no. 25-002-XPB and Steel wire and specified wire products, catalogue no. 41-006-XPB.
