New motor vehicle sales, June 2026

In June, 190,167 new motor vehicles were sold in Canada, an increase of 7.3% from the same month the previous year. In dollar terms, sales increased 9.1% in June compared with one year earlier. Over the same period, the number of new trucks sold rose by 8.0%, while the number of new passenger cars sold increased 2.9%.
There were 21,876 new zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) sold in June, an increase of 56.1% from one year earlier. New ZEVs comprised 11.5% of total new motor vehicles sold, compared with 7.9% in June 2025.
Note to readers
The term "zero-emission vehicle" (ZEV) refers to any motor vehicle that has the potential to produce no tailpipe emissions. The ZEV category includes battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
