Canadian international trade in services, May 2026

Released: 2026-07-07

Canada's international imports of services increased 2.0% to $21.2 billion in May, and its exports of services increased 0.9% to $20.8 billion. As a result, Canada's monthly international trade in services deficit widened from $0.2 billion in April to $0.5 billion in May.

The increase in services imports in May was driven by transportation services imports, which rose 5.1% to reach $4.1 billion, as services related to the marine transportation of goods rose. Commercial services imports (+1.0%) and travel services imports (+1.9%) also increased in the month.

In May, exports of commercial services reached $12.6 billion and led the overall increase in exports of services. To a lesser extent, transportation services exports (+2.1%) and travel services exports (+0.3%) also contributed to the increase in exports.

To explore the most recent results of Canada's international trade in services in an interactive format, see the International trade monthly interactive dashboard.
