Investment in residential construction for Canada decreased 2.2% in March compared with February. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 11.6%, Prince Edward Island was down 13.2%, Nova Scotia was down 2.0%, New Brunswick was up 3.6%, Quebec was up 0.7%, Ontario was down 5.0%, Manitoba was up 4.2%, Saskatchewan was down 3.2%, Alberta was down 3.3%, British Columbia was down 2.8%, Yukon was up 11.6%, the Northwest Territories was down 23.8% and Nunavut was up 4.4%.

Total investment for Canada was $15,521.9 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $172.4 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $58.1 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $419.1 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $364.4 million, total investment for Quebec was $4,042.9 million, total investment for Ontario was $5,167.4 million, total investment for Manitoba was $628.6 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $386.2 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,765.8 million, total investment for British Columbia was $2,391.9 million, total investment for Yukon was $33.6 million, total investment for the Northwest Territories was $11.6 million and total investment for Nunavut was $80.0 million.

Single homes: Market share was 25.7% and total investment totalled $1,646.3 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 9.0% or $162.5 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 2.8% and total investment totalled $179.4 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 9.4% or $18.6 million.

Row homes: Market share was 11.2% and total investment totalled $717.2 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 9.2% or $60.2 million.

Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 60.3% and total investment totalled $3,869.5 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 0.1% or $4.8 million.
