Canadian international trade in services, March 2026

Released: 2026-05-05

Canada's monthly international trade in services balance went from a slight surplus of $0.1 billion in February to a slight deficit of $0.1 billion in March. Overall, imports of services increased 1.7% to $20.4 billion, and exports of services were up 0.5% to reach $20.4 billion.

Imports of commercial services were responsible for most of the overall increase in imports for March. Imports of commercial services rose 2.6% to $11.8 billion, mostly driven by higher payments of financial services. Imports of transportation services (+0.8%) and travel services (+0.2%) also contributed to the monthly increase.

Exports of commercial services were up 0.8% to $12.1 billion in March, as exports of financial services increased. Exports of transportation services rose 1.9% to $2.1 billion. Meanwhile, exports of travel services were down 0.5% to $5.9 billion and dampened the overall increase in exports.
