Firearm-related violent crime includes incidents where the most serious violation was a firearm-specific violent offence (discharging a firearm with intent, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, pointing a firearm) and other violent crimes where the most serious weapon present in the incident was a firearm. The number of incidents represents the number of victims, as well as incidents where the police did not provide victim records. Because of quality concerns regarding weapon data, the Service de police de la Ville de Québec is excluded. Rates are calculated on the basis of 100,000 population.
