This is a map of Canada by province and territory, showing the month-to-month percentage changes for investment in residential building construction. Green arrows pointing upward represent an increase, while red arrows pointing downward represent a decrease.

Investment in residential construction for Canada decreased 3.0% in January compared with December 2025. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 11.0%, Prince Edward Island was down 13.2%, Nova Scotia was down 2.0%, New Brunswick was down 0.2%, Quebec was down 4.8%, Ontario was down 2.9%, Manitoba was down 5.4%, Saskatchewan was up 4.1%, Alberta was up 0.6%, British Columbia was down 4.1%, Yukon was up 2.6%, Northwest Territories was down 13.4% and Nunavut was down 12.0%.

Total investment for Canada was $16,385.3 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $125.7 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $73.9 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $431.5 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $315.0 million, total investment for Quebec was $4,021.2 million, total investment for Ontario was $5,875.5 million, total investment for Manitoba was $555.7 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $455.5 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,883.6 million, total investment for British Columbia was $2,529.2 million, total investment for Yukon was $30.7 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $15.8 million and total investment for Nunavut was $71.9 million.

Single homes: Market share was 28.3% and total investment totalled $2,060.8 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 9.0% or $205.0 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 3.0% and total investment totalled $215.2 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 5.6% or $11.5 million.

Row homes: Market share was 8.4% and total investment totalled $609.6 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 6.6% or $42.9 million.

Condo and rental apartments: Market share was 60.4% and total investment totalled $4,394.9 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 6.5% or $269.8 million.
