This is a map of Canada by province and territory that shows the month-to-month percentage changes of the total building permits value. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.
Building permit values in Canada were up 6.8% in December compared with November. Newfoundland and Labrador was down 8.3%, Prince Edward Island was down 50.8%, Nova Scotia was up 9.8%, New Brunswick was down 10.3%, Quebec was up 7.9%, Ontario was up 20.5%, Manitoba was up 79.1%, Saskatchewan was down 6.6%, Alberta was down 7.5%, British Columbia was down 10.6%, Yukon was up 142.6%, Northwest Territories was down 97.6% and Nunavut was down 35.9%.

Residential: The total value was up 7.1% month over month.
Non-residential: The total value was up 6.3% month over month.
Single-family dwellings: the total value was $2,484 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 4.6% or $119.7 million.
Multi-family dwellings: the total value was $5,529 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 13.4% or $653.2 million.
Industrial: the total value was $796 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 6.3% or $53.8 million.
Commercial: the total value was $2,306 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 3.0% or $71.1 million.
Institutional: the total value was $1,721 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 31.5% or $412.6 million.
