This is a map of Canada by province and territory that shows the month-to-month percentage changes of the total building permits value. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.

Building permit values in Canada were down 13.1% in November compared with October. Newfoundland and Labrador was down 21.2%, Prince Edward Island was up 24.2%, Nova Scotia was up 11.5%, New Brunswick was down 6.3%, Quebec was down 19.4%, Ontario was down 22.0%, Manitoba was down 27.1%, Saskatchewan was down 6.2%, Alberta was down 1.6%, British Columbia was up 2.2%, Yukon was down 53.1%, the Northwest Territories was up 2,090.2% and Nunavut was down 10.9%.

Residential: The total value was down 12.0% month over month.

Non-residential: The total value was down 14.9% month over month.

Single-family dwellings: the total value was $2,638 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 0.1% or $3.8 million.

Multi-family dwellings: the total value was $4,878 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 17.3% or $1,017.4 million.

Industrial: the total value was $828 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 5.3% or $46.7 million.

Commercial: the total value was $2,404 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 15.0% or $422.6 million.

Institutional: the total value was $1,283 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 19.9% or $318.9 million.
