Canadian international trade in services, August 2025
Released: 2025-10-07
Canada's monthly international trade in services surplus narrowed from $0.4 billion in July to $0.3 billion in August. Overall, exports of services edged down 0.2% to $18.7 billion, and imports of services remained unchanged, at $18.4 billion.
Exports of travel services fell 1.7% to $5.4 billion in August, mostly due to a decrease in spending in Canada by travellers from countries other than the United States. Exports of commercial services rose 0.8% to $11.2 billion, led by an increase in financial services. Exports of transportation services were down 1.4% to $1.9 billion.
Imports of commercial services increased 0.8% to $10.5 billion in August, mostly due to an increase in financial services. Imports of transportation services declined 1.5% to $3.2 billion, as services related to the marine transportation of goods and passenger fares fell. Imports of travel services were down 0.7% to $4.5 billion.
