This is a map of Canada by province and territory that shows the month-to-month percentage changes of the total building permits value. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.
Building permit values in Canada were up 11.0% in December compared with November. Newfoundland and Labrador was down 10.6%, Prince Edward Island was down 65.1%, Nova Scotia was up 12.8%, New Brunswick was up 3.7%, Quebec was down 13.8%, Ontario was up 23.6%, Manitoba was down 4.2%, Saskatchewan was down 5.7%, Alberta was up 8.1%, British Columbia was up 29.5%, Yukon was up 394.7%, Northwest Territories was down 56.6% and Nunavut was down 1.0%.

Residential: The total value was up 21.2% month over month.
Non-residential: The total value was down 5.9% month over month.
Single-family dwellings: the total value was $2,897 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 1.8% or $52.1 million.
Multi-family dwellings: the total value was $6,070 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 33.3% or $1,515.3 million.
Industrial: the total value was $1,035 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 13.9% or $126.5 million.
Commercial: the total value was $1,813 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 10.9% or $221.1 million.
Institutional: the total value was $1,331 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 11.2% or $167.6 million.
