This is a map of Canada by province and territory that shows the month-to-month percentage changes of the total building permits value. Green arrows represent an increase, while red arrows represent a decrease.

Building permit values in Canada were up 11.5% in September compared with August. Newfoundland and Labrador down 6.8%, Prince Edward Island down 18.9%, Nova Scotia up 21.6%, New Brunswick down 3.8%, Quebec up 6.1%, Ontario up 25.0%, Manitoba up 110.1%, Saskatchewan up 3.5%, Alberta down 1.8%, British Columbia down 19.1%, Yukon up 176.7%, Northwest Territories up 405.8%, Nunavut down 26.7%.

Residential: The total value was up 7.5% month over month.

Non-residential: The total value was up 18.0% month over month.

Single-family dwellings: the total value was $2,770 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 1.3% or $35.1 million.

Multi-family dwellings: the total value was $4,971 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 11.3% or $505.5 million.

Industrial: the total value was $1,299 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 1.3% or $17.6 million.

Commercial: the total value was $2,142 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 0.5% or $9.9 million.

Institutional: the total value was $1,785 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 85.9% or $824.9 million.
