Investment in non-residential construction for Canada increased 0.6% in May compared with April 2024. Newfoundland and Labrador was up 11.1%, Prince Edward Island was up 2.3%, Nova Scotia was up 4.0%, New Brunswick was up 1.9%, Quebec was down 1.9%, Ontario was up 0.6%, Manitoba was down 1.8%, Saskatchewan was up 1.3%, Alberta was up 0.0%, British Columbia was up 4.7%, Yukon was up 8.9%, Northwest Territories was down 9.7%, Nunavut was down 13.2%.

In May, total investment for Canada was $6,376.4 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $27.5 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $21.6 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $98.6 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $87.2 million, total investment for Quebec was $1,413.9 million, total investment for Ontario was $2,616.1 million, total investment for Manitoba was $217.0 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $152.6 million, total investment for Alberta was $719.9 million, total investment for British Columbia was $996.2 million, total investment for Yukon was $16.9 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $6.3 million, total investment for Nunavut was $2.6 million.

Industrial: Market share was 21.7%, total investment totalled $1,385.6 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 8.5% or $108.3 million.

Commercial: Market share was 49.9%, total investment totalled $3,182.0 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 0.5% or $15.2 million.

Institutional: Market share was 28.4%, total investment totalled $1,808.9 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 15.8% or $246.6 million.
