Investment in residential construction for Canada increased 0.9% in May compared with April 2024. Newfoundland and Labrador was down 13.8%, Prince Edward Island was down 13.0%, Nova Scotia was down 3.4%, New Brunswick was up 6.0%, Quebec was up 6.5%, Ontario was down 0.5%, Manitoba was up 3.3%, Saskatchewan was down 6.4%, Alberta was up 1.5%, British Columbia was down 0.9%, Yukon was down 9.5%, Northwest Territories was down 11.7%, Nunavut was up 8.5%.

In May, total investment for Canada was $14,397.0 million, total investment for Newfoundland and Labrador was $62.8 million, total investment for Prince Edward Island was $68.9 million, total investment for Nova Scotia was $469.7 million, total investment for New Brunswick was $296.2 million, total investment for Quebec was $2,937.1 million, total investment for Ontario was $5,558.5 million, total investment for Manitoba was $428.9 million, total investment for Saskatchewan was $261.1 million, total investment for Alberta was $1,764.1 million, total investment for British Columbia was $2,504.1 million, total investment for Yukon was $9.8 million, total investment for Northwest Territories was $8.4 million, total investment for Nunavut was $27.4 million.

Single homes: Market share was 32.1%, total investment totalled $1,974.1 million, representing a year-over-year decrease of 5.5% or $114.0 million.

Semi-detached homes: Market share was 3.3%, total investment totalled $205.5 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 20.7% or $35.3 million.

Row homes: Market share was 11.8%, total investment totalled $724.0 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 7.7% or $51.5 million.

Condos and rental apartments: Market share was 52.8%, total investment totalled $3,242.8 million, representing a year-over-year increase of 9.0% or $267.8 million.
