Building permit values in Canada down 12.2% in May compared with April. Newfoundland and Labrador down 39.7%, Prince Edward Island up 1.6%, Nova Scotia down 10.4%, New Brunswick down 25.3%, Quebec up 6.4%, Ontario down 1.2%, Manitoba up 24.9%, Saskatchewan up 11.7%, Alberta down 7.0%, British Columbia down 50.7%, Yukon down 9.5%, Northwest Territories up 273.8%, Nunavut up 1,087.0%.

Residential: The total value was down 16.3% month over month.
Non-residential: The total value was down 5.0% month over month.
Single-family dwellings: The total value was $2,528 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 2.7% or $70.2 million.
Multi-family dwellings: The total value was $4,589 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 22.3% or $1,313.5 million.
Industrial: The total value was $1,095 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 20.6% or $187.2 million.
Commercial: The total value was $2,445 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 7.4% or $194.1 million.
Institutional: The total value was $1,078 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 18.0% or $236.4 million.
