National Travel Survey: Public use microdata file, 2022

The National Travel Survey (NTS) public use microdata file (PUMF) for 2022 is now available.
This PUMF contains data for a wide variety of variables collected from the 2022 NTS that cover the characteristics of Canadian residents travelling within Canada and abroad: travel expenditures, length of stay, type of transportation, purpose of trip, accommodation used, places visited, and expenditures by category.

Note to readers
The National Travel Survey (NTS) provides statistics on the activities of Canadian residents related to domestic and international travel. It measures the volume and characteristics of these travellers and their travel spending. The public use microdata file (PUMF) contains individual responses to the NTS that may be modified to ensure the anonymity of the respondents.
With fewer Canadian residents travelling abroad during the pandemic, estimates for international travel have higher levels of variability. As such, users are advised to note the quality indicators associated with these estimates.
A user guide and data dictionary are also available with the PUMF.
