Canadian manufacturers produced 1.2 billion cigarettes in May 2023, up 7.0% from April 2023. Cigarette production was 20.5% lower compared with May 2022.
In May 2023, the total number of cigarettes sold increased 36.6% to 1.4 billion from April 2023. The level of sales was 4.9% lower compared with May 2022.
