Building permit values in Canada down 4.0% compared to December. Newfoundland and Labrador down 26.8%, Prince Edward Island down 45.4%, Nova Scotia down 7.8%, New Brunswick down 19.4%, Quebec down 6.7%, Ontario down 0.9%, Manitoba up 6.7%, Saskatchewan down 12.8%, Alberta up 2.1%, British Columbia down 9.6%, Yukon up 6.6%, Northwest Territories up 166.3%, Nunavut down 100.0%.

Residential: The total value decreased 6.6% month over month.

Non-residential: The total value was up 0.7% month over month.

Single family dwellings: total value was $2,685 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 4.4% or $123.6 million.

Multi-family dwellings: total value was $3,374 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 8.3% or $306.9 million.

Industrial: total value was $719 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 3.9% or $29.5 million.

Commercial: total value was $2,146 million, representing a month-over-month increase of 5.4% or $109.5 million.

Institutional: total value was $855 million, representing a month-over-month decrease of 5.9% or $53.7 million.
