Monthly Survey of Manufacturing: Flash estimate, June 2022

Given the rapidly evolving economic situation, Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for June. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales fell 1.0% in June. The largest decreases were in the petroleum and coal product and aerospace product and parts industries.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 65.4%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 93.9%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the June reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.

This flash estimate is a special product published in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide Canadians with timely information on the manufacturing sector. The official estimate of manufacturing sales for the month of June, which will be based on a more complete set of survey and administrative data, is scheduled for release on August 15, 2022.
