Education Indicators in Canada

The spring 2022 issue of the publication Education Indicators in Canada: Report of the Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (81-582-X) is now available. National indicators on public and private expenditure on education have been updated for this edition. This publication also now includes internationally comparable indicators on teachers, the learning environment and the organization of schools, research and development, the educational attainment of the population aged 25 to 64 years, and labour market outcomes, previously available in the publication Education Indicators in Canada: An International Perspective (81-604-X).
The publication Education Indicators in Canada: Handbook for the Report of the Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (81-582-G) is also available. This handbook provides general descriptions for each indicator, explains the major concepts discussed, and includes definitions, as well as an overview of methodology, limitations and data sources.
Note to readers
The Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (PCEIP) is an ongoing initiative of the Canadian Education Statistics Council, a partnership between Statistics Canada and the Council of Ministers of Education (Canada) that provides a set of statistical measures on education systems in Canada.
Internationally comparable indicators that were previously available in the publication Education Indicators in Canada: An International Perspective (81-604-X) have now been incorporated into Education Indicators in Canada: Report of the Pan-Canadian Education indicators Program (81-582-X).
As part of the modernization of the PCEIP, some indicator production has been automated in order to ensure the program's continued relevance and timeliness. More specifically, indicators on enrolments in postsecondary education, graduation from postsecondary education, and transitions to the labour market were updated on the day the source data for these indicators were released.
