Multimodal Safety and Security Programs Oversight Delivery Indicators, Transport Canada, first quarter 2021/2022
Released: 2022-02-08
Multimodal Safety and Security Programs Oversight Delivery Indicators are now available for the first quarter of the 2021/2022 fiscal year (i.e., April to June 2021).
Impact of COVID-19 on oversight activities
The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting public health measures prompted Transport Canada to implement measures to protect the health and safety of its employees and the Canadians they serve.
As a result, oversight activities, such as regulatory authorizations and planned risk-based activities have been reduced, delayed, postponed, or cancelled.
In 2021/2022, there were fewer restrictions following the vaccination of the majority of Canadians. There was an increase in the number of oversight activities compared with a year before, but still fewer activities than in years prior to the pandemic.
Note to readers
The Transportation Data and Information Hub provides Canadians with online access to comprehensive statistics and measures on the country's transportation sector.
In 2020/2021, Transport Canada reviewed and updated the methodology of all enforcement actions and risk reduction measures across all modes and programs to improve consistency in approach. In some cases, this resulted in a significant change in data when compared with the same data from previous years or quarters.
